Philippians 4:4-5 “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5. Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.

In spite of all of his arrests and imprisonments and near-death experiences, Paul is secure in his salvation and he wants  everyone to share in the good news he has to give. He emphasizes the importance of gentleness and appreciation of the saving grace of God through Jesus Christ with  an ever-positive attitude.

What We Should Know

Paul is declaring here that all are freed from the Pharisaical tyranny the Jews have lived under and that they now can enjoy a loving God who’s grace will assure heavenly reward. This is a new context for the Jews and Paul is not just preaching it, he is rejoicing in it.
