Philippians 3:2-3 “2. Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the mutilation! 3. For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.”

Paul’s ministry in Asia began through a vision of a man from Macedonia pleading for help. As he began churches in Ephesus, Phillipi, Laodicea, Colossae, and Crete, he realized formidable conflict from Jews, Judaizers, pagans, Gentiles and Cretens. As we read through the epistles, we find a significant part of his teaching to his young converts (i.e. Timothy and Titus) focused on standing up for Christian principles in spite of strong arguments based on no facts or evidence.

What We Should Know

Paul’s warning in vss. two and three are relevant even more so today. We are besieged today from all directions by mis-information and downright lies out of those whose only goal is self-aggrandizement. The social media (internet) is full of it and the sources are very questionable. Everything we need to know can be found between Genesis and Revelation and that is often twisted to accommodate personal interpretations. Always seek the truth from reputable sources (i.e. legitimate pastors and Bible scholars). Once you have it, hold on to it.
