Psalm 23:1-3 “¹. The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. ^2. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. ³. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.

In this Psalm David presents a wonderful caricature of God as the shepherd who watches carefully over His sheep. As the shepherd guides His sheep over sometimes difficult terrain, so God guides us (His sheep) through this chaotic world. 

What We Should Know

David’s life story was one of major “ups” and “downs.” It was not until the profit Nathan had a “Heart-to-heart” honest talk with him that he realized his sins against God and the people. In the Psalms, David does his best to express his remorse and to praise God for his forgiveness through repentance and he does so beautifully. If we read between the lines, we can see ourselves in the same light if we, like David, can just “Let go and let God.”
