13Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins;
Let them not have dominion over me.
Then I shall be blameless,
And I shall be innocent of great transgression.
14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
Be acceptable in Your sight,
O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.
In the Lord’s Prayer we say “Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.” We are asking God here to steer us away from sinful temptations and toward His will. We often find ourselves in the midst of situations requiring quick decisions some of which may challenge our faith. We should always ask ourselves that “magic question,” “What would Jesus do?” before we act.
What We Should Know
The Lord’s Prayer amazingly covers all aspects of our daily prayer needs and when we pray it sincerely, we seek God’s guidance in all facets of our daily lives. As the Catholics use their “Rosary” to help them cover all of their prayer needs, we should let the Lord’s Prayer do that for us. The Lord’s Prayer should always bring to mind our personal needs and challenges.
