Psalm 16: 1-2 “Preserve me O God, for in You I put my trust. O my soul, you have said to the Lord. ‘You are my Lord. My goodness is nothing apart from You”.

These appear to be the words of David who, through personal experience, disappointed God through self-centered decisions to achieve power. Then, through the prophet Nathan, his sins became real to him and he repented.

What We Should Know

Like David, sometimes we just need a good “talking to”. In his book “The Purpose Driven Life”, Rick Warren opens up with the sentence….. “It’s not about you”. That could well be the theme of Psalm I.  As we make important decisions in life, we sometimes overlook their impact on others and the Apostle Paul emphasized, as Christians, we should always consider the needs of others above ourselves. David realized his mistakes and confessed that he had sinned against God.
