Psalm 1:3 “He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.”

This first Psalm refers to our choice of direction in life and the corresponding rewards and punishments based on our tendency toward or away from God’s will. The conclusion of this thought is expressed in vs. 6 “For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish.”

What We Should Know

As Christians we are surrounded by the godly things in life and we sense with every action whether we are in God’s will or not. That Christian environment is likened to the moist rich soil along a river bank and our lives are like trees planted in that nutritious  environment where growth and prosperity abound. Yet, we face constant temptations which tend to draw us away from godly decisions and vs. 6 says “the way of the ungodly shall perish.”
