Pastor’s Note
Investing in Eternity
Luke 16:1-11
This Sunday, we conclude our three-week stewardship emphasis with one of Jesus’ more unusual parables: the Parable of the Dishonest Manager found in Luke 16:1-11. At first glance, this parable may leave us scratching our heads. Why would Jesus use a dishonest manager to teach us something about faithfulness? But as we dig deeper, we discover a powerful truth: how we manage the resources God has entrusted to us reveals what we truly value.
Everything we have, our time, talents, and treasures, is a gift from God. The question is not simply how much we have, but what we are doing with what we have been given? Are we using our earthly resources to make an eternal difference?
This Sunday is also Commitment Sunday. As we prayerfully consider how God is calling us to support the mission and ministries of First United Methodist Church in 2027, I invite you to bring your completed Commitment Card with you to worship this Sunday. If you are unable to attend, you may also mail your card to the church office.
Thank you for your continued faithfulness, generosity, and commitment to the work God is doing through our church. My prayer is that we will continue to grow as a congregation that not only gives generously, but lives generously, investing what God has entrusted to us in the things that matter for eternity.
See you Sunday!
