Philippians 1:3-11

This week, we turn to Philippians 1:3-11, where the apostle Paul writes with deep gratitude and affection for the church in Philippi. His words remind us of something we can easily overlook, which is that our faith was never meant to be lived in isolation. From the very beginning, we were made for relationships, with God and with one another.

Paul gives thanks not just for individuals, but for a community bound together in love, prayer, and a shared purpose. He celebrates their partnership in the Gospel and expresses confidence that God is continuing a good work in them together. This is a powerful reminder that growth in our walk with Jesus Christ happens most deeply when we are connected to others who encourage, challenge, and walk alongside us.

In a world that often pushes us toward independence and self-sufficiency, the church offers something different. It is a place where we belong. It is here that we are known, supported, and called to love one another with the same love Christ has shown us. The church is not just a building or a weekly gathering. It is a people, a living breathing community where faith is nurtured and lived out together.

As you reflect on this passage, I invite you to consider your own connections within the church. Where are you experiencing meaningful relationships? Where might God be calling you to deepen those connections or reach out to someone new?

We were made for relationship and through the church, God gives us the gift of walking this journey of faith side by side.

Grace and peace,

Pastor Margaret
