Pastor’s Note
Let Everything Praise
Psalm 150
Over the course of this summer, the Psalms have taken us through nearly every season of the human heart. We have encountered joy and sorrow, confidence and fear, confession and gratitude, stillness and celebration. The Psalms have reminded us that there is no part of our lives that we cannot bring honestly before the Lord. Now, our journey ends exactly where it should: with praise.
Psalm 150 is the grand finale of the Psalter. Again and again, its six short verses issue the same invitation: Praise the Lord! Praise Him everywhere. Praise Him for what He has done. Praise Him for who He is. Praise Him with every instrument available. Finally, “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!”
Perhaps that is the great lesson the Psalms have been teaching us all along. No matter the season you find yourself in, the condition of your heart, or the circumstances of your life, it is always the right time to praise the Lord, not because everything in our lives is always good, but because God is always worthy.
So as our summer in the Psalms comes to an end, may our praise continue. May every breath we have been given become an offering of worship. And may we join our voices with all of creation to make much of our King.
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!
Grace & Peace,
Pastor Margaret
