2 Kings 19:9-11 “9 Now Sennacherib received a report that Tirhakah, the king of the Cush, was marching out to fight against him. So, he again sent messengers to Hezikiah with this word: 10 Say to Hezikiah, king of Judah: Do not let the god you depend on deceive you when he says, ‘Jerusalem will not be given into the hands of the king of Assyria. 11 Surely you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the countries, destroying them completely, and you will be delivered?’”
Chapter 18 vs. 5 is really the key verse in this entire section of Scripture. It says, “Hezekiah trusted in the Lord, the God of Israel.” He heard rumors of coming attacks by those who rely on Baal and other fake gods; yet he ignored them and remained true to his God of Israel.
What We Should Know
We are bombarded today by false teachers who have mislead many away from God’s simple plan of salvation. Their arguments can be very convincing while they are also spiritually destructive. We have the whole truth before us in God’s Word, and it has been proven over and over again and it does not change or vary from one person to another. As Hezekiah was faithful, so should we be.
