John 10:7-8, 9a    “Then Jesus said to them again, ‘Most assuredly I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. 8All who ever came before Me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. 9a. I am the door.”

Jesus had healed the blind man at the pool of Siloam. As word got out, the Pharisees who heard the man declare that he was healed by the Son of God interrogated him and then rejected his claim. Jesus heard this interaction and declared face-to-face with the Pharisees that He is in fact the “the door of the sheep.” And that “All others who have come before Me are thieves and robbers.” Then He repeated in vs. 9a “I am the door.” As we know, the Pharisees refused to accept the truth.

What We Should Know

In John 14:6, Jesus said to the disciples “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” They did question Jesus and were convinced of His “sonship.” And we know-----the rest of the story. We will always hear idle words but always question them and rely on the evidence of the truth.
