Acts 13: 22 “After removing Saul, He made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after My own heart; He will do everything I want him to do.’”
Paul is preaching to the Jews in the temple at Antioch and sharing the history of their Church from the days of Moses to the coming of Jesus and they are all ears. He emphasized the mortality of the leaders throughout history as each fulfilled their calling and eventually died. He emphasized the exception of Jesus whom God declared as not only the leader of the faith but also declared Him as His Son who not only died but, unlike earthly leaders, was also resurrected.
What We Should Know
One outstanding feature of Jesus’ leadership is that, unlike all earthly leaders, His rein is immortal. He will not die and decay as all earthly leaders do. Hebrews 13:8 says “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.” Let us not put too much faith in the leadership of “Man.”
