The Gospel for All People

Acts 10:34-43

This week we are studying a very powerful passage in the book of Acts, Acts 10:34-43. In this passage, Peter proclaims what John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist movement, so beautifully described as the “way of salvation.” Peter reminds us that God shows no partiality; His grace is for all who believe. The message is simple, yet life-changing: we acknowledge our sin and need for a Savior. The real problem is not that we are bad people who need to become better but rather we are dead people that need to come to life. Then we believe that Jesus is who He says He is, and we trust that His death and resurrection counted for us. Then we confess Him as Lord of our lives. It is as simple as ABC (Admit, Believe, Confess).

But our story doesn’t end at justification. The God who saves us also sanctifies us. He shapes us daily, calling us to live differently because we have encountered the grace of Christ. Our good works don’t earn us salvation but rather, they are the fruit of it. Once we’ve been struck by the grace train that is the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we cannot remain the same. In Christ, we are made new, and we are sent out to live as witnesses of His resurrection power.

This is the good news Peter preached in Acts 10, and it is the same good news we are called not only to receive but also to share today. The Gospel of Jesus Christ saves us, transforms us, and sends us out as living witnesses to the risen Christ.
