Acts 2:4 “All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.”

When God called Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt, He promised Moses that, as long as he followed God’s commands, He would not leave them. As Moses and the Israelites wandered in the wilderness, God fed them manna from heaven and provided water from the earth. God appeared to them as a column of cloud during the day and as a column of fire at night so they were always conscious of His presence. If the cloud moved during the day, they followed it. If the column of fire moved at night, they followed it. The Israelites followed where ever God led them.

What We Should Know

God never left them and, when He became incarnate, He fulfilled that same promise…..that He would never leave us in the Great Commission in Matthew 28. That promise was fulfilled on the day of Pentecost  when the Holy Spirit came down upon all. The Holy Spirit is now our column of cloud during the day and column of fire at night as it dwells within us and guides our every thought and step.
