John 20:21 “Again Jesus said, ‘Peace be with you! As the Father has sent Me, I am sending you,’”

It was the evening of the first day of the week after the crucifixion. The disciples were gathered in an upper room behind locked doors because they feared the Jewish leaders would seek them out to kill them. Jesus suddenly appeared. He greeted them with a loving spirit and uttered the words of today’s Scripture.

What We Should Know

As the Scripture continues, Jesus breathes the Holy Spirit into them and declares that “As the Father has sent Me, so I am sending you.”  Now, it was up to the disciples to carry the message to the world and they did. We are their descendants, the disciples of today, and that declaration is meant for us. Let us share the good news with a world so full of bad news for there is hope through the crucifixion.
