I Cor 10:16,17 “16. Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread we break a participation in the body of Christ? 17. Because there is one loaf, we, who are many are one body, for we all share the one loaf.”
It is amazing the number of theological variations which exist among the many different Christian denominations in our country. The arrays of disagreements among Christian churches and the resulting conflicts in interpretations are mind boggling. Verse 17 says “We who are many are one body.” Yet, we have managed to split off into different sects and denominations which tend to weaken the Church overall.
What We Should Know
Paul described the Church as one body made of many parts. As the human body develops, one cell divides into many different cells, each with a specific function. It is the action of all those cells working together in unity which give the body health and vitality. When it comes to our individual roles in the faith, we should strive to “keep the main thing the main thing” as our different spiritual gifts work together for one cause. We are the Church of Jesus Christ. Let’s always lift Him up as one body.
