John 19:28 “Later, knowing that everything now had been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said ‘I thirst.’”

As Jesus hung in agony on the cross, the last few prophesies from the Old Testament regarding the Suffering Servant were fulfilled. Everything He had come to earth to accomplish was completed. When this one last act of purchasing our redemption was complete, nothing more was needed and He surrendered Himself to death.

What We should Know

Jesus said “I thirst,” from the cross because He wanted His lips and throat moistened to utter one final victorious declaration before He died. That declaration was……. “It is finished!”
