Matthew 2:12 “And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route.”

As a Christian counselor, one of my most profound statements to a client is simply….”follow your heart.” I have met many people who have put their trust in the judgement and opinions of others at the expense of their own standards and faith values resulting in catastrophe in their lives. I know of one individual who left his wife to attend a seminary because he was advised by an unqualified individual. My seminary counseling professor was the one who interviewed him suggested strongly that he go back to his wife and seek God’s will for them together.

What We Should Know

Sometimes our “want-toer” gets in the way of all logic and reasoning and we tend to make decisions without consideration of all the facts. We should be aware that with all actions come consequences. We should consider all consequences  (pro and con) before making any decision and God’s will should always be a part of that process. The Magi were wise in their actions to go home by another route. We should keep that option always open in our own hearts and minds.
