Mark 6:12-14 12. They went out and preached that people should repent. 13. They drove out many demons and anointed many sick people with oil and healed them. 14. King Herod heard about this, for Jesus’ name had become well known.

Jesus’ ministry had just begun. His disciples were witnessing and healing the sick and the popularity of His ministry was growing wherever they went. As word of these miracles spread, King Herod concluded that Jesus was the reincarnation of John the Baptist whom he  had beheaded.

What We Should Know

Jesus’ Church had just begun to grow and it grew because committed disciples went out in accordance with the “Great Commission” and taught and baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. They witnessed for Jesus by acts of love and compassion for the people a kind of love the people had never before experienced in a leader. That’s the way the church grew then and that’s the way we can grow the Church today. A welcoming church is a growing church.
