First UMC Plant City Buckets of Hope Challenge
After the devastating storms of 2024—Debby, Helene, and Milton—the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church’s Disaster Recovery team had to source flood buckets all the way from Texas. To be better prepared for the 2025 hurricane season, the Conference has set a goal of assembling 5,000 flood buckets.
Our church is joining in this effort. Pastor Margaret has challenged us to assemble at least 20 flood buckets by Saturday, October 4. If we reach that goal, you’ll have the chance to dunk Pastor Margaret in the dunk booth at the Fall Festival on October 4, while Pastor Dennis will get “bucketed.” Now that’s some motivation!
How you can help:
- Follow the list of items needed for each flood bucket [click here]
- Be sure each bucket contains all the items listed (not just some).
- No need to worry about labels—the church will provide them.
- If putting together a bucket on your own is difficult, consider partnering with another church member or with your small group.
- Watch this video from UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief) on how to assemble your bucket:
- Once your bucket is complete, drop it off at the church office.
These buckets will be distributed locally when storms strike, providing much-needed relief to our neighbors.
Together we can make a difference and show our community that we are truly the hands and feet of Jesus Christ. Thank you for helping—and happy bucketing!
