Acts 28:21-22 “21. They replied, ‘We have not received any letters from Judea concerning you, and none of our people who come from there has reported or said anything bad about you. 22. But we want to hear what your views are, for we know that people everywhere are talking against this sect.’”

Paul is living as a free man in Rome since the government there could not find grounds to convict him of any crime. However, the Jewish leaders wanted to hear what this new sect was all about so they listened to Paul as he shared the kingdom of God through Jesus Christ with them.

What We Should Know

Paul waited patiently in Rome for two years for a trial that never came. He spent that time witnessing to the Jewish leaders and all who would listen about Jesus Christ. God guided him there and then used him wonderfully to share the Good News with a willing audience. The Jewish community had apparently heard a lot about this new sect but they didn’t understand enough about it so, rather than condemn it, they sought to understand it.
