Mark 9: 36,37 “ 36. He took a little child whom He placed among them. Taking the child in His arms, He said to them, 37. “ Whoever welcomes one these little children in My name welcomes Me; and whoever welcomes Me does not welcome Me but the one who sent Me.’”
Jesus’ presentation of the child in this Scripture is representative of His feeling toward all children of God. He made it clear in Galatians 3:28 that all are equal in His sight. The days of discrimination of certain social classes were over in His kingdom as all were now welcome.
What We Should Know
As Jesus’ present-day disciples, we need to be reminded that ALL are welcome in Jesus’ presence. We have failed in keeping that assurance as we tend to judge and criticize and reject those who are different than we are. Galatians 3:28 is still God’s Word and Jesus’ simple command to all Christians is still “Follow Me” and to “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
