Hebrews 7:27b “….He sacrificed for their sins once for all when He offered Himself.”

I continue to be concerned  by the confusion of so many people when it comes to an understanding of the role of sin in salvation. I have heard the same excuse time and time again that “ I am a sinner. God has no use for me.” I had a young man in my former church who was a convicted felon.  He found the Lord while in prison and genuinely accepted Christ and committed his life to serving Him when paroled. He felt he was being called to ministry but could not because of his record. I told him that he could communicate with those into drugs and alcohol and they would listen to him where they would not listen to me.

What We Should Know

Just as Paul could communicate with the Gentiles, this young man could communicate with drug  users and felons. There is an old saying that “Birds of a feather flock together” and the gist of that saying is that we can communicate meaningfully with those who have gone through the same experience we have.  Likewise, you cannot communicate on a CB or short-wave radio unless you are on the same frequency. This young man answered God’s call and has reached the lives of many who would have fallen into deep trouble otherwise. There is always someone we can reach with our special spiritual gifts.
