Easter Sunday Pastor’s Note
Why Do You Look For The Living Among The Dead?
“Why do you look for the living among the dead?” (Luke 24:5). With this question, the angels at the empty tomb gently confronted the assumptions of the women who had come expecting the lifeless body of Jesus. Instead, they were met with a living Savior and a life-changing question.
As we conclude our series, “Questions Jesus Asked,” it is fitting that we end with a question asked not by Jesus Himself, but about Him. It is a question that echoes into every human heart: Where are you looking for life?
Every person on planet Earth is on a quest for life, for meaning, purpose, fulfillment, and lasting joy. Yet so often, we search in places that can never truly satisfy. We look for life in the lust of the flesh, hoping that pleasure will fill the void. We look in the lust of the eyes, believing that more possessions or experiences will finally be enough. We chase the pride of life, striving for status, success, and recognition, thinking these will secure our worth. But in the end, these are empty tombs. They promise life but cannot deliver it. They offer satisfaction but only leave us wanting more.
Easter reminds us of this unshakable truth: life is not found among dead things of this world, but in the risen Jesus Christ. He is not in the tomb, He is alive and because He lives, He alone offers the abundant and everlasting life our souls are searching and longing for.
So, this Easter, hear this life-changing question again: Why do you look for the living among the dead? And let it lead you to a better one: Where am I looking for life? May we turn our hearts away from what cannot satisfy and fix our eyes on the One who can. In Jesus Christ, we do not just find answers, we find life itself.
He is risen! He is risen indeed.
Grace and peace,
Pastor Margaret
